Dongha (Anika) KimSecretary-General Welcome to JejuMUN X, delegates! I am Anika Kim, a junior at Korea International School Jeju. I will be serving as your Secretary-General for the two-days-long conference. When I had joined my first MUN conference in middle school, I did not expect that I would develop the fervor I have for MUN today. I feel more than honored to serve as the Secretary-General for a conference held by the school that first introduced me to the world of MUN. I wish this conference becomes a starting point of an endless MUN career for first-time delegates, just like my first conference in 2019 was for me, and an opportunity to continue growing both as a delegate and as a person for returning delegates. No matter how great of a speaker you are, make sure to never be afraid of raising your placards and sharing your opinions with others. Step outside your comfort zones, forge new relationships, and learn more about the world around you! Always, if you have any concerns or questions, feel free to reach out to me ([email protected]) anytime during the conference. See you all in November!

Ryunjae BaekDeputy Secretary-GeneralGreetings delegates! Welcome to JejuMUN X. I am RJ Baek, a junior at Korea International School Jeju, and I will be serving as your Deputy Secretary General in JejuMUN X. As a person who began her MUN career in JejuMUN during middle school, I am more than excited to present to you what we have prepared for this very conference. MUN can be intimidating for some of the new delegates, while it also can be thrilling and entertaining for those who are more experienced. Regardless of your experience in MUN, I hope each and every one of you make the most out of this conference; break boundaries, be humbled, and most importantly, learn. Do not hesitate to take risks, and make sure that your voice is being heard. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me ([email protected]). Jiyun ChungUnder Secretary-GeneralGreetings, everyone! I am Jiyun Chung, who will be serving as your Under Secretary-General in JEJUMUN X. I am currently in my senior year at Branksome Hall Asia so this will likely mark my final high-school MUN experience. Interestingly, my MUN journey began five years ago right here at JEJUMUN. All the speeches, points of information, and resolutions completely bewildered me back then, but the passion of fellow students and the creative debates were fascinating enough for me to pursue MUN. Now that I’ve come this far, I can confidently tell you that there’s so many valuable lessons and memories you can make out of this experience. So take a step out of your comfort zone, achieve whatever goal you have in mind. Learn from struggling and share your insights with other outstanding leaders around you. In the meantime, I will try my best to make this conference meaningful for each and every one of you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me ([email protected]); I’m open to any and all questions. I wish you all the best luck!

Seongjoon (Steven) YangUnder Secretary-GeneralHi all! My name is Steven Yang, the Under Secretary-General for JEJUMUN X, and I am a Year 13 (or senior) student at North London Collegiate School Jeju. My MUN career started three years ago at JejuMUN VII, and it is an honor to highlight my last JejuMUN experience with the role supporting all delegates and chairs. I am sure you would feel overwhelmed by the passionate speeches, motions, fiery debates, and resolutions if you are a new MUNer. I felt exactly the same in every conference I participated as a delegate regardless of the accumulation of experience. But what kept me as a MUNer was the pride of being able to confidently debate in diplomatic form, delve into various contemporary issues, and make new friends! Do not be afraid of yourselves. Fellow delegates, chairs, and secretariats are there to foster your MUN skills. And what you take from this conference is not the shiny glass award but the growth of yourselves as MUN delegates through the thrilling experience. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me ([email protected]). I’ll see you all soon!

Dongyoon (Daniel) LeeUnder Secretary-GeneralHello everyone! This is Dong Yoon (Daniel) Lee, a junior from Saint Johnsbury Academy Jeju who will serve as the Under Secretary General position for the upcoming JejuMUN X. My beginning of the MUN journey rewinds back to 2019. Within my MUN experience as delegate, chair, and secretariat, something I loved during all my past conferences is that it provides not only an opportunity to learn new policies, enhance speech skills, and recognize the urgency of current world issues but also open space for one to make connections with others and to make new friends. If you are nervous about the conference, fortunately, you are not the only one. Even after participating in MUN for five years, whenever I open a conference room door, my heart still pounds wildly. It is okay to have that little tension. However, do not overwhelm yourself: All of our secretariats, chairs, and advisors will be there to support you. I sincerely hope you enjoy the conference, learn something new, and make a great memory. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me via email ([email protected]). See you all at the conference.
